Seniors Section: Inter-Club Matches
The planned Matches for 2020 were of course all derailed by Covid. The Section's Secretary has arranged two home and away matches for 2020, details of which are set out in the additional inter-club match pages
The Seniors' Section are playing 20 (home and away) friendly matches in 2020. They are genuinely 'friendly and fun' days involving a doubles match play format followed by a lunch. All actively participating seniors are encouraged to take part where they can. Teams are selected to ensure that everyone who wants to take part gets a fair opportunity without reference to their handicap ability. As it is the custom for home players to provide drinks for their visitors, the cost of the lunch is adjusted, being less for home matches, than away matches.
The opportunity to express interest and availability for matches is by placing your name on the Match Sheets provided on the Seniors notice board at the club.
Please see below Guidelines in respect to match arrangements and dress code.
INTER-CLUB MATCHES: GUIDELINES
The following guidelines in conjunction with the Captain's discretion will apply in respect to team selection for Inter Club Matches:
1. Teams will be selected from members who participate in senior's competitions.
2. Preference for selection to play in Away matches will be given to members who support Home fixtures.
3. Teams will be published on the website and on the Notice Board at least two weeks ahead of the match date.
4. A selected team member should inform the Captain or Secretary as soon as possible if he is unable to play, but the Captain or Vice-Captain will endeavour to email team members [and Reserves] at least two days prior to match days requesting team members final confirmation of availability.
5. Team members should endeavour to arrive by 8.00 a.m. for Home matches. If a player intends or anticipates that he will arrive later, he should make the Captain or Secretary aware of this situation the night before if possible.
6. If the team were put in the embarrassing position of a member not turning up for a Home match, it would be hoped that if a reserve were available somewhere on the course that he would make himself available to play for the team. However, the reserve will not be obliged to stay for lunch.
7. Club Colours. If you have them, please wear a black club sweater or pullover and light blue shirt with beige trousers or shorts – these are the preferred team colours.
8. Dress Code :
Home Matches : Smart Casual [This is defined as collared button down shirt, smart trousers (no shorts, jeans or cords) acceptable footwear with socks (no trainer type shoes or sandals].
Away Matches: We will respect the dress code of the club we are playing and will advise what is required in advance of the day of play.
