Ash's Days Out
2021 : Top Meadow 22nd November 2021
24 seniors were due to play at Top Meadow, but unfortunately Richard Stephenson had to drop out on Sunday evening as he had a reaction to his Covid booster jab. Hopefully, it will only last a day or two and he will be able to play the swindles later this week.
It did mean I had to change the team competition from aggregate team score to average team score to be fair to the 3 ball team.
In my last awayday at Burnham on Crouch, there were some really good scores with 20 out of 27 scoring 30 or more points. What a difference one month later as just 7 of the 23 registered 30 or more points. I guess Top Meadow is a longer, tighter and more difficult course than Burnham and if you were off the fairway it was difficult to find your ball. This resulted in low scores and a longer round than usual.
So whilst the golf wasn't the best by most of us it was still a great day. The course was dry and in reasonable condition. It was cheap and cheerful with really good food served by lovely staff and the IPA was nectar.
Individual prizes
No surprise about the winner really with Graham Robson taking 1st place by a distance (39 pts).
2nd was Graham Sharp (35 pts)
3rd Mark Woodcock (34 pts) just ahead of Captain Steve (33 pts)
Sharpshooters of the day:
On the 5th was 'robot' Robson
And on the 18th was Mark Woodcock who played a fantastic shot on the 18th. 2 for 5.
Team prize
Thanks to 13 pts on the last hole, the team of Mark Woodcock, Ash Patel, Belly and Ray Wells totalling 117 pts at an average of 29.25 pts beat team Robbo, Flash, Kim and Winsey totalling 114 pts at an average 28.5 pts.
