Warley Park Seniors Guest Day : Monday 22nd August 2022
Seniors' Captain, Dave Skinner's Guest Day
Message from the Captain
Many thanks to all those who supported my Guest day, especially those who brought guests.
Particular thanks to Chris and Ray for all their work and diligence, in both the lead up to the event and the checking of all the cards and producing the final results in such a speedy manner.
With your help we raised £205 for the Captains' charity - Corbets Tey School, which was a great outcome.
Thank you all.
Kind regards
Dave

An Independant View
A very well supported day saw 21 teams (82 players), gathered for Senior Captain Dave’s Guest day.
Following coffee 19 teams of 4 and 2 of 3, went out and battled for the golfing honours on a very hot, muggy day, with good humour and a strong sense of anticipation about the result!
Dave, Chris and Ray had all the organisation in place and the course, particularly greens, was in pretty good condition, given the dry weather conditions and the ongoing drainage course work. Some of the scores reflected that.
After the golf was finished, it was drinks on the upper terrace, followed by a two course lunch enjoyed in the Lakes View room. There were unfortunately a few problems with beer 'gas' but we ignored that and got on with drinking what was available. Our thanks to Sarah and her team in dealing with this as best they could on the day.
After lunch Seniors Captain Dave said his thanks to all who helped make the day a success and skilfully delivered a non joke within a non joke! Then onto the important part - the day's results.
Last year Sir Simon had to be non playing member/coach for his two guest teams. But this year he was back to strong competitive play. As you would expect he had done his research (or has an excellent memory) as he correctly identified that one of two guest groups last year took 2nd place. He nimbly slotted himself into that group this year and went on to help them win the day with an excellent 126 points! Well done guys.
Despite all Warley Park players having a 10% HC cut on the day, a home grown team, lead by Ray Wells, found a very good 125 points to take 2nd place.
And taking 3rd place with a very close score of 124 points, was the combined 2 member and 2 guest team lead by Winesy.
Prizes also went to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest Individual Guest and 1st and 2nd best Members scores (not in a Winning team), and to Guest and Member nearest the pins.
Prize winners are listed below with photos.
In support of the Captain' charity a Table Sweep Stake score was run that raised £405 in total with £100 paid out to the winner (Steve Bell) and 4 £25 prizes to the 4 runners up. A sum of £205 was raised for the 2022 charity - Corbets they School.
Great end to a very successful and enjoyable day.
