Ash's Days Out
Away day 2022 : Cranham 13th April 2022
April's awayday was at the rather flat and well manicured golf course by the name of Cranham. The weather was kind to us, pleasant with a little bit of breeze.
Originally 24 players had put their name down to play with 3 reserves. Due to illness and injuries the 3 reserves managed to get a game. Cranham had put the prices up from £16 to £17:50 on 1st April and as I had initially only collected £17, I had to go with my begging hat on and collect £1 swindle prize money. 😠😠😠
With Cranham having no slope rating everybody played off their WH and cuts were applied to some previous awayday winners. Not surprisingly, there were some impressive scores with 7 players scoring 40+ whilst 8 players scored between 36-39.
In 3rd place beating Ash with a bb9 was Mark Woodcock with 44 pts. As he won whilst on a cut, the new cut of 2 will be added to the previous cut to make it 5 for his next awayday.
In 2nd place was 2021 bandit of the year Kevin who also won nearest to pin. Cut 2 next awayday.
And in 1st place with a magnificent 49 pts was Graham Sharp who apparently putted the best ever.
Most of us went to Cafe A for a coffee and some food. They don't serve guinness so Tony and Bob decided to go elsewhere. Whilst the service was rather slow, the food was worth waiting for.
Obviously you were supposed to settle up your bill before you leave but Gordon had a senior moment and went home without paying it. Roger was going to send the old bill after him but honest Gordon came back and paid his bill before the police could apprehend him. Well done for remembering Gordon, even if it was a bit late. I wonder how many other Seniors did a runner!!!
Next awayday is at Risebridge on 6th May tee off from 10am
