Ash's Days Out
Away day 2022/23 : Theydon Bois GC 4th Aug 2023
In the March awayday at Theydon Bois it bucketed it down and the day was ruined, however Kevin the pro kindly offered a date in the future at a discounted rate. It was duly arranged to return in August hoping the weather would be hot and sunny. The forecast for the day before was rain and thunder but we actually got no rain and no thunder. Motto-dont trust the weather forecast.
The course was pretty and in nice condition however the greens had been sanded so they were a bit on the slow side.
My 3 ball was eventful
Firstly, my battery was flat so I had to push the effin trolley round
Secondly, when Richard and Don both went into a lateral red stake hazard on the 17th an argument ensued about what options they had. Don played another ball off the tee so that was OK. Richard found his ball in the hazard and Don insisted he had to play it and I said he can take a drop at where the ball entered the hazard. A video has been posted on the awayday WhatsApp explaining the options so no more arguments in future.
Thirdly, I was 8 feet from the pin on the 3rd so I staked the NP card next to the ball but forgot to write my name on the card. LOL
The scoring was quite good as only 3 players scored less than 30 but the winners are:
1st Greg with a very impressive 41pts
2nd Kevin with a equally impressive 40pts including 3 birdies but failed to beat Greg as he had too many 1 pointers
3rd was Ray with a very good 38pts beating Dave and Kim on countback.
The 'lucky shot' NP winners are listed belopw.
Leading the race for the awayday cup is Kevin with Simon in 2nd place.
