Ash's Days Out
Away day 2022/23 : Abridge Golf Course 5th December 22
I last played Abridge in 2014 so I was looking forward to the day, but when you look forward to something so much you are very often disappointed. The disappointment came from a very bad start. I hit Ivan's ball on the 1st for a 2 point penalty, put the 2nd shot out of bounds on the 2nd and hit Ivan's ball again on the 4th for another 2 shot penalty. The disease spread as Capt Dave then hit Ivan's ball on the 3rd (Eds note: ever felt unwanted Ivan?? ). Kevin constantly remarked to me for the rest of the round 'did you hit the right ball?'
The disappointment must have been even more for John Clare who stopped after just 3 holes because large parts of the fairways were roped off and you had to keep to the buggy path. I have sympathy for him as I found this quite tiresome and unnecessary.
The scoring overall was fairly average, but quite close as 13 players were within a 30-35 band. Ding Dong took 1st place with 35pts and a better back nine than Orson Wells, whilst "did you hit the right ball' took 3rd with 34 pts. Sharp shooters for the day were Kim on the 9th, Ash on the 15th (nearly a very expensive day for Ash) and Capt Dave on the 17th.
