Ash's Days Out
Away day 2022/23 : 27th October : Stapleford Abbotts 2023
21 seniors turned up for the October away day at Stapleford Abbotts. Samantha looked after us well and gave the early arrivals proper coffee from the bar and at 8:15 we all headed into the function room for our tea/coffee/bacon rolls. I tried to explain the rules of the day and what to record on the scorecards. Some understood, Some didn't and some fell asleep.
Early morning weather was OK with no sign of rain. As the morning progressed, the weather got better and better with sunshine breaking out. The dis-organised organiser came to play with a flat battery so had to hastily hire a buggy.
Surprisingly the scorecards were deciphered without too much trouble and the numbers are accurate, I think. However, I am not sure everybody recorded lost balls. It didn't matter in the end as nobody was going to beat 7 from Ken.
Well done to all the winners.
Dave H, Tim, Dave C in the individual category
Simon, Kev and Ash in the team category
Greg for nearest to pin
and Kim, Chris, Ray and Winsey for the extra prize category (I don't think I will be doing that again)
Can't really say well done to Ken for losing 7 balls, however he did get a brand new Titleist box containing 12 used balls as compensation. (he thought he won a dozen new balls). ha, ha. Kim and I thought it was hilarious.🤣🤣🤣

With just Basildon left to play on 17/11/23 the awayday leaders are Ray, Greg, Kev and Simon. Just 3 points separate them so an exciting final round in prospect.
