Ash's Days Out
Away days 2023/24 : 26th April 2024: Garon Park GC
20 'away dayers' made the trip to Garon Park, with the organiser late for the meet up time because-
a) He got the meet up time wrong by 30 minutes
AND
b) Halfway up Priests Lane Chris said 'have you got everything? I said 'Oh no!! I forgot my battery - turn back'
Tips on how to improve one's memory are welcome.
Pre golf there were so many questions!!
How do we use the handicaps and score the 2 9's?
How do we score in the team game?
No time to explain due to my lateness so I told everybody to work it out for themselves.
Most did it correctly. Geoff's team didn't bother as they thought they had no chance of winning, but they were runner up with 82 pts. Gordon's team did it incorrectly as they only scored 19 pts. After an explanation on how to score it was revised to 79pts, but still bottom of the pile. I wonder why? (Eds note: Ouch!) Ash's team won the bottles of wine (again) with a score of 84 pts. Team scores below.
The course was nice and in good condition with wide open fairways, so no chance of losing too many golf balls. I lost one when I shanked one into the rough, but how caould you lose 7!!!!!!! : ask Ken and Gordon. Greens were good, but it was very difficult to get the pace of them.
The individual scores were better than at Ballards Gore, but still not great. I think everybody playing 2 or 3 shots less than they were has affected their game. It was a high handicappers day to take the prize money. Well done to them.
Les 1st with 36, Winsey in the money again with 35 b9 22 and Chris taking 3rd place with 35 b9 15
