Swindle 'Extra' Result: Played Friday 22nd June 2018
Second Swindle Extra : Prizes Sponsored by your Swindle Organiser
White, Yellow and Red Challenge
Our second, very successful, Swindle Extra day was held on the Friday 22nd June. A warm, bright day, with running fairways and fast greens. We like to challenge the Swindlers (Seniors) metal dexterity and so played a competition that required the guys to think though and select which 6 of the white tees, yellow tees and red tees they would drive from over the 18 holes.
16 of us turned up with our list of numbers and colours. One or two had forgotten them… and had to make it up on the day. No booking in today so that was a relief to some of us! The organiser (yes me) started it well by trying out his first warm up swing with the head cover still on the driver. As you know I am in 'bad back place' (amazingly I have never used that one before) and it showed in the resulting very low score line. But actually after that it seems it was all pretty smooth sailing for the swindlers– although I observed a few balls going into the water (sorry Chris and thanks for helping with the scoring!).
Prizes were given for the highest overall stableford scores for 1st, 2nd and 3rd . In addition prizes were given for the highest scores for the white, yellow and red tee holes played.
A swindle was run alongside so some players (on swindle handicap cuts) had to keep track of two scores, always a challenge.
The results were as follows (only one prize per person)
1st Richard Stephenson 39
2nd Graham Robson 38 (just one day after completing his 72
hole challenge!)
3rd Mike Trett 34
Best Scores - whites Doug Garvey 13
Best Score - yellows Bob Doe 14
Best Score - reds Graham Sharpe 15
Booby prize for lowest score on reds Doug Garvey 4
Swindle
The swindle result (off swindle handicaps) were:
Richard Stephenson 39 points £8 Cut 3
Terry Vickers 33 points BB9 £5 Cut 2
Graham Sharpe 33 points £3 Cut 1
Well done to all the winners.
Our next Swindle Extra day is Weds 18th July – This is intended to be the Captain’s Triby Tour day so get started on digging out or buying that sartorial triby you have always wanted an opportunity to wear!
Gordon
Note
Graham took the opportunity to reveal the winner of the 72 hole challenge sweepstake pot and a very happy Ray Wells walked off £90 better off. Well done Ray.
