Ash's Days Out
Away day 2022 : Brentwood GC 14th September 2022
21 seniors made the short trip to Brentwood Golf Club for the rearranged freebee awayday. No hiccups this time as we were well received by the staff and everything went smoothly. Plenty of pre golf chatter in the clubhouse whilst devouring lovely bacon rolls.
It rained heavily overnight and it was still overcast but no more rain was forecast. The rain in the last few weeks meant that the course was in great condition. Good fairways and greens but the bunkers could have been better, especially as I found myself in a few and had difficulty getting out of them.
Considering the perfect conditions for golf I was expecting good scores, however this did not seem to materialise as only 3 players played to handicap. They were Ash. Kevin S and Mike T who took the individual money prizes.
Nearest to pin on 2nd was chairman Steve and on 15th was taken by the returning to golf Alan Hewlett. They were both very close but were not birdied!!!
For the team prize, 21 cards were organised in scoring order and split into 3 equal piles. Top 7, then next 7 followed by the bottom 7. Each of the piles were shuffled and a scorecard was drawn out from each pile by Simon and Alan. Steve was the accountant who added the 3 scores up.
The winning team was team 2 just piping team 1 by a point
It was an enjoyable day out, especially for me as I won the team and the individual prize.
