Our Hosts for the Day
Although double booking of accommodation by the Club conspired against us to run our 'normal' event, it was decided to carry on with (teeth gritted) the 2nd Ladies and Seniors day of 2022, albeit with a much more informal approach to drinks and lunch etc after the game.
Windy, but warm weather allowed a good game of golf, with some perhaps more affected that others. As a result scores were kept down a little compared to more recent occasions. The wind did at least gave some of us seniors a good excuse for some of our less accurate shots!
I can't claim to know much about individual games, but did pick up that the Steve Bell and Sue Allen team eagled the 11th, and Angie Long shot a masterful 'hole in one' on the eighth (Men's N the P prize hole so no reward for Angie!).
The nearest the pins were won by :
Jeanie Hughes on the 3rd
Mary Anne Hansen on the 14th (although we only knew that because I picked up the marked card on the 13th fairway - the wind having done its work.)
Graham Robson on the 8th
Greg Burnham on the 18th.
The best overall front nine score was won by Toni McLennan and Henry Vialls.
The best overall back nine score was won by Sue Murry and Greg Burnham.
In second place overall, very narrowly, was Viv Sandford and Gordon Allen
And in first place overall, again very narrowly, was Chris Wilkins and John Powell.
The full results are below.
Seniors' Captain Dave presented prizes (sorry, no photos today) and wound up events with thanks for the usual hard work by colleagues to get things in place so successfully.
There was a general view that the less formal - more relaxed arrangements for the day had actually worked out very successfully and that it may be a model to be repeated for one of the 2 days each year in future.
