Brian's Final Ever Awayday at Orsett GC November 2022
Looking at the forcast at the weekend, Wednesday looked to be cold but dry and it turned out to be just that.
Most players turned up with all their equipment, but Ray decided to leave his boots behind closed doors (he can explain).
Having tapped up 3 of the participants who had spare boots in their car he decided to play in his "F.J. cabin creepers. "
As is said "beware the injured golfer " replace with "bootless golfer."
21 of us set off in 7 x 3 balls, the wind got up however, and a few found the conditions "testing. "
We had nearest the pin on 12 which could have been costly for Dave Oakley as he missed the hole by inches.
On the 6th it was nearest in 2 and it came down to yours truely (21st player) to fade in a 5 wood to take the prize.
The group stayed nose to tail for vertually the whole round, but it still took 4 1/2 hours to complete the course.
The final scores for the daycare set out below and you will see that the "bootless "one took the title with 38 points.
Bill had a second place 36 and yours truely pinched third from Joe who double bogeyed the last to let my 16 point back nine, win the day.
I was pleased to have Orsett as my last venue , a great course, but the cost of these days is getting silly.
Ash as you know does his awaydays and with Hainault & Abridge are lined up, looks good !!
Keep swinging
