Welcome to the Seniors' Section at Warley Park Golf Club.
It’s a great honour to be asked to be the captain of the seniors’ section for 2022. My apprenticeship for this role has been somewhat shorter than in previous years, but I will endeavour to match the standards of my predecessors. I would like to thank Steve Abbott for his tireless work over his extended captaincy.
There are proposed changes to the clubhouse which will inevitably cause some disruption, but hopefully, with forward planning and patience, we can minimise the impact of this.
I intend to uphold the ethos of the club providing fun, social golf and competitive yet friendly games for everybody of all handicaps. We have a mixture of competitions, including thrice weekly swindles, golfer of the year competitions and many individual and team competitions throughout the year. Added to this are the inter-club matches and away days organised to widen our golfing experience.
As is the custom we support a chosen charity. This year, unlike previous years, the captains of all sections have decided (with advice from Get Golfing) to combine our charitable work. We have chosen the Corbets Tey School, a local specialist college for communication and interaction for children of reception age to year 14 who have complex learning needs.
We are open to any players age 55 plus who wish to join our friendly and welcoming section. Information is exchanged with senior members through our excellent website, emails and WhatsApp groups. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.
I would like to wish all members a happy and success year of golf in 2022.
