Fantasy League Golf 2021 - A Special Edition (1) from the New Secret Printing Location in Shenfield
Well chaps, I’m pleased to report that the strike at the Fantasy News printing works has been resolved and we will be issuing limited editions for the rest of this year. There will be no charge as we won’t, as yet, be running a Fantasy League, as I need a spreadsheet expert to run it with me. My target for that is next year and I have ruled out 90% of you, but learned on the grapevine that a certain Ding Dong is more capable than his boss, so he is a candidate.
On top of that I have entered the David Greene Stableford and have considered raising Charity money selling photos of Robbo’s face when he learns of my new handicap. However, as my personal target is 20 points he has nothing to fear (yet).
I’ve noticed one or two changes whilst I’ve been away and realise we have roughly netted out on members. However, as one door closes another opens. Who of our new members are going to play drums and guitar at Christmas and who is going to keep the rest of us awake? Rumour has it Dave Skeleton is being groomed as the vocalist to go with Dolly and Gunga at South Essex. Fairbanks and Beehive must be relieved they haven’t joined Burnham (Eds note : he is still here). Anyway, we will miss them, but welcome the newcomers as we develop our youth policy. Of course, it also promises new material for me. Speaking of material, what a shame I was on strike when Graham got all those holes in one. He missed out on a whole newsletter dedicated to just him!
The other thing I’ve noticed is how much Flash has been doing to sort us all out, and O Steve, our first 'two year captain', a glutton for punishment I’d say. Well done both from me. It is a good idea to ask a few ladies to your captain's day Steve so I won’t feel out of place. I also notice GG have achieved the difficult task of getting us to 'ask to play on Childerditch'. I have played the front nine and think it will be very good when finished, so let’s stick around as a great group at least for a bit. And let’s expect us to hear ‘best move I ever made’ from the leavers as they try to justify leaving what still looks to me like the best seniors around, in what is a friendly group in most clubs.
