Ash's Days Out
Away day 2022/23 : Basildon GC : Weds 21st December 22
Greg dropped out early in the morning as unwell. Rumour has it that it was the dodgy Mondays Xmas lunch at Warley Park. So we were down to 15 and the team game was hastily changed from better ball pairs to combined pairs. As Don was stranded without a partner a ghost player (Ash) was drawn out for him from the completed cards.
It was great to get back to playing golf after a 10 day enforced break. After all the recent snow and rain it was a pleasant surprise to play Basildon on a dry day. All things considered the course was in very good condition and there were some interesting and tricky holes. I think the drainage they put in worked a treat as the fairways were dry. The flags and bunkers rakes regularly get stolen at Basildon, so there were no rakes and flags were makeshift plastic tubing. However this did not spoil the enjoyment of the day.
Free drinks from the birthday boys Kevin and JP and a great Xmas lunch too and all for a bargain price of £25. I think the best awayday I have organised was enjoyed by all.
Some good scores were recorded, none under 30. Congratulations to the away swindle winners Richard, Sharpie and Kim. Nearest to pin winner Sharpie and pairs winners Simon and Kim.
