Seniors Fantasy Golf News 2023 : No 4
Belly has done his sums homework again so you can view the current positions in the latest tables below. We now have a new leader in Laurel’s mate, Hardy, followed by Steve Abbo (is there nothing this man can’t do). It proves transfers work, as several playing contenders are absent, or being rebuilt, and have been sold.
Of the recent winners one legged Jimmy Handley (he had two when he won), Robot Robson, and Flash, all won GOY competitions. I have to say a fantastically well done to Graham (still got it against all the odds) and of course to Dave and Gordon. I always thought Gordon walked on water, but he proved this untrue when he sunk in the muddy stream on the 1st, although he may have made it if there was water in it. He said Sue would sort them out and she has!

We also had a good performance by Ivan, the (not so terrible), in the 4 seasons cup.
One other thing, General Paton got round in the Long Grass Medal and, given I mention him a lot, I think that deserves praise. Although I will say he spent 10 minutes in a swindle trying to straighten his putter after he scolded it.
In other news, I study WhatsApp to see what is going on and notice we now have a pin position back and the (excellent) new Head Greenkeeper, is 'trialling cutting grass'. Thank goodness ‘No Mow May’ has ended. Good news all round.
In terms of my golf, I thought I would study my stats on England Golf – they don’t make happy reading - although I did find out I’m in the top 92% in Essex, so 8% of players are worse than me - they must be bad. I lost to Cozy Powell in the singles, having tried a few wind ups. They completely failed, so well done him. The other thing that happened was Gordon was away, so couldn’t organise his usual team for the lady’s quiz. (It was Roger’s last one – until September). Fending for ourselves the Shooters, Cormacks, and Skinners formed a team with us and we were only 3 points off 2nd, so we now know what the weak link is. The Allens are benched for next time.
(Unfair - those 3 points would have been our expert knowledge points! G)
And back to Belly. First, he uses Whatsapp to teach us the 9x table and then this week we get a reference to Cicero. I think he’s lobbying to be captain.
It’s a short one this month as I’m away for a few days. Enjoy the heat and buy some raffle tickets off Graham if you are not at Orsett. I can’t think of a better cause.
