Ash's Days Out
Away day 2022/23 : Theydon Bois 17th March 23
The two March away days suffered from the great British weather, Canons Brook was called off because of snow whilst we had to play in constant rain at Theydon Bois. The only positive is that both clubs have given me the option to return in the summer at the same winter rates.
When you arrange awaydays not much can be done about the weather so 20 golfers set off hoping the rain would ease off. No such luck as my group had enough by the 11th hole and came off, but the other 4 groups were determined to finish and they did.
The scores were not great but that was understandable. Not only did it rain throughout but IT WAS ALSO TOO MUDDY, almost unplayable. Brian Wilkins probably wished he hadn't volunteered to take Simon's place.
The day ended with a St Patricks day Guinness and Irish stew in a very noisy clubhouse where the Cheltenham racing festival was being shown.
Today's winner was Ken Paton who doesn't care about conditions, he will play in mud, snow, sleet, rain, 50mph winds. Runner up was Spiggy who also does not mind the rain and 3rd place went to Roger who normally complains about such conditions.
NP on 15th was Dave Handley - Sleeve of balls
Team prize was won by Kim, Roger, John and Robbo with 103pts - a bottle of prosecco each
